Hotel rewards research shows room for improvement

Two out of three UK business travellers belong to at least one hotel loyalty club, yet nearly half are unsatisfied with the rewards they get, according to research that will be revealed at WTM London.

A report by Wanup, a loyalty club for top guest-rated hotel chains and independents, which launched last year, by says 45% of corporate travellers report ‘low levels of satisfaction’ with their loyalty club and 86% would prefer a scheme that prioritises experiential rewards aligned with their hobbies and interests before points or air miles.

A further 14% of British business travellers are unsure what a loyalty scheme is to begin with.

The findings have been compiled for Wanup’s 2017 Travel Loyalty Report from a poll of 6,000 millennial and Generation-X business travellers in the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and France to analyse the travel and rewards preferences of certain age groups and cultures.

The report finds that concepts of loyalty and rewards are key drivers for individuals who travel for work when it comes to selecting hotel accommodation and making travel arrangements.

Full details of the report’s content will be revealed at a presentation on Monday November 6 at the Travel Tech Theatre.
